Orange Valley Changi Care Village Open House Day!
On 21st September 2019, Changi Care Village officially reopened with Guest Of Honour, Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman, Senior Minister of State for Defence & Foreign Affairs, Mayor of South East District and MP for East Cost GRC, gracing our open house ceremony and helped to plant a tree to commemorate the reopening.
Opened in 1993, Changi Care Village is Orange Valley’s very first nursing home set in conserved pre-war colonial buildings amidst lush flora and fauna. In 2018, Changi underwent renovations works which included replacing roof tiles, repainting and touch-up work, all done carefully to preserve its quaint form and charm.
“We hope that Changi will evolve to be more than a home for our residents, but also a little village or community where they can enjoy nature’s offerings and reminisce about the good old days.” Chief Executive Officer, Ms Lyn Edel Yip, said at reopening ceremony.
At Changi Care Village, more outdoors activities and special rehabilitation programmes will be conducted to encourage residents to step out of the confines of their rooms to mingle and interact with others in a safe and idyllic setting, enhancing their mental and physical well-being. Residents get to go out into the garden for morning walks, get involved in feeding our residential birds and rabbits, and participate in gardening activities.
One of the main highlights of Changi Care Village open house was definitely the Porsche car ride by P9Club . Our special thanks to P9 club members for volunteering to bring our residents and SAC members around the neighbourhood in style!
Guests had a fun filled day participating in carnival games, being entertained by the stage performances and sipping on Milo and Sjora drinks from Nestle. Guests were also brought on a guided facility tour to learn about the care facility and experience the tranquil environment of Changi. It was certainly an eventful opening marked by many smiles and laughters!
