Active Ageing Centres
Previously known as “Senior Activity Centre”
Orange Valley is proud to be part of this nation-wide initiative to provide senior residents, especially the vulnerable ones, with a good support network. Conveniently located in close proximity to studio apartment units specially built for elderly residents who are 60 years old, Active Ageing Centres encourage the elderly to remain integrated in society through community outreach programmes and social recreational activities offered by these centres for seniors. Each studio apartment has an alarm system linked to the centre which can be activated during emergencies. This allows the staff of the Active Ageing Centres to speedily visit and attend to the elderly at their home, should the alarm be sounded.

FAQs about Orange Valley Centre for Seniors
1. What is the difference between an Active Ageing Centre and a senior activity centre?
The Active Ageing Centre goes beyond traditional activity centres by providing a holistic approach to senior wellness. 2. Who is eligible to join an Active Ageing Centre in Singapore?
Our centres welcome all seniors aged 60 and above, including those living in nearby studio apartments or community estates. We especially encourage participation from individuals seeking companionship, social engagement, or ongoing support for elderly care in Singapore. To learn more about our organisation and commitment to empowering seniors, visit our about us page.
3. Are the programmes at Active Ageing Centres free of charge?
Most of our community activities and engagement programmes are offered free or at minimal cost to ensure inclusivity. Some specialised workshops or outings may require a small fee to cover materials or transportation, but our goal is to make every programme accessible to all seniors.
4. Can family members participate in activities with seniors?
Yes, families are encouraged to join selected events and community programmes. Shared participation strengthens intergenerational bonds and allows family members to better understand and support their loved ones’ active lifestyles. To learn more about available sessions, you may contact us directly.
5. What kind of support is available for vulnerable or isolated seniors?
Our active ageing centre runs befriending and buddying initiatives for seniors who have limited social networks. Trained staff and volunteers visit or check in regularly, ensuring emotional support, safety, and inclusion. In urgent situations, our team can also connect seniors to medical and community resources swiftly.
6. Do Active Ageing Centres provide caregiver support or resources?
While our centres primarily serve seniors, we also provide information and referral services to assist caregivers in finding relevant elderly care options. Caregivers can approach our staff to learn about support groups, respite care, or specialised services such as dementia care available through Orange Valley.
7. Can seniors with mobility issues still benefit from the programmes?
Absolutely. Our facilities are designed to be accessible and safe for seniors of all mobility levels. We offer modified exercise sessions and seated activities so that everyone can participate comfortably. Our staff are trained to assist whenever needed, ensuring each senior experiences the benefits of active ageing regardless of physical limitations.
